Song Preserve is an archive of out-of-print, independent music. All the music is shared by the artists and made available as free downloads to everyone using the Creative Commons license. It's a place to set your music free.

What music are you looking for?
Everything. Any genre and degree of obscurity has a home here.
Can I post music I wasn’t involved with and I’m not the legal copyright owner of?
No. You can only post music that you are the legal copyright owner of. But if it's something you really think should be made available then we encourage you reach out to the band and invite them to add it.
How do I digitize a CD, tape, record or master?
CDs are the easiest. Most software like iTunes have import functionality that will convert it to MP3s. As for other formats like tape and vinyl Audacity is great, free software. They also have detailed tutorials on digitizing vinyl or anything else you may have.
What file format should the music I upload be?
For now we're only taking MP3s. We prefer high quality 320kbps MP3s.
